For the last 11 years we have been driven every day by our purpose: helping independent Makers and small businesses find their people and grow their business. The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting these businesses in an unprecedented way across the US and around the world. We’re connecting with a few of our Makers to elevate their stories and share the challenges they face. With these stories, we hope our community can see the impact of their support and how these businesses are foundational to our society. 

PUDUS is a family-business that has been working to keep toes cozy for around four years. They began with a goal of helping encourage people to curl up and relax, and their signature super-plush, super-warm slipper-meets-socks certainly do the trick—they even made a fan out of Oprah. We talked with Maker Haylie Segal to see how PUDUS is handling this challenging time for a small business.

Unfortunately the team has experienced some temporary lay-offs. Remaining employees are all now working remotely, but stay connected with daily huddles and meetings over video calls to keep those connections strong.

On a positive note, Haylie is looking to give back in the form of comfy, cozy socks to front line fighters of the pandemic—folks like her husband, a physician.
