For the last 11 years we have been driven every day by our purpose: helping independent Makers and small businesses find their people and grow their business. The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting these businesses in an unprecedented way across the US and around the world. We’re connecting with a few of our Makers to elevate their stories and share the challenges they face. With these stories, we hope our community can see the impact of their support and how these businesses are foundational to our society.

We caught up with Chippo Golf Maker Brendan McAuley, who launched his backyard big-idea in 2017. The cornhole-meets-golf game began as a crowdfunded endeavor that soon wildly exceeded expectations.

It’s a lean team of three folks at work here, and they’re driven to bring the love of golf to every backyard hangout. During this COVID-19 pandemic, they are helping families have a fun distraction from stressful times. With some thoughtfulness around social media, they’ve engaged community of fans who use the game in the backyard or even indoors.

While many small businesses are struggling in these uncertain times, Chippo Golf is flourishing thanks in part to no disruptions with distribution, plenty of inventory on hand, and lots of golfers looking for at-home fun while they can’t get on the course.

“If our product can be a distraction or some way to pass the time and spend some quality time with their families, that’s pretty amazing.”
